A New Adventure
As I stepped off the plane and onto the busy streets of New York City, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement and trepidation. I had just arrived from Taiwan to begin my exchange program at Columbia University. It was a dream come true, but it also marked a big change in my life.
Culture Shock and Growth
The first few weeks were a whirlwind of new experiences. The hustle and bustle of city life was a stark contrast to the tranquility of my hometown. The language barrier was also a challenge, but I was determined to immerse myself in the culture.
Through conversations with my classmates and interactions with locals, I learned about different perspectives and ways of life. I also discovered hidden gems in the city, from cozy coffee shops to vibrant art galleries.
A Place to Call Home
As time went on, I began to feel more at home in New York. I made friends from all over the world, who shared my love of learning and exploration. I even found a Taiwanese community where I could connect with people from my home country.
Challenges and Triumphs
Of course, there were also challenges along the way. I missed my family and friends back home, and there were times when I felt overwhelmed by the pace of life in the city. But with the support of my friends and professors, I learned to adapt and overcome these obstacles.
Reflections
Looking back on my time abroad, I am grateful for the incredible experiences I have had. I have grown both academically and personally, and I have gained a new understanding of the world. I have learned the importance of embracing diversity, stepping outside my comfort zone, and never giving up on my dreams.
