Post-impression was a strong movement formed in 1910. The term post-impressionism was originally used by an art critic called Roger Fry - he is the reason for this organisation. The members who were part of this association were; Paul Cézanne who led the movement and he was also known as the father of post-impressionism. Paul Guaguin was also another member of this movement. He wanted to join because he believed that great modern art would show contemporary life in ways similar to classical art, except that it would use technologically informed techniques. The other members of this movement are called Vincent van Gogh and Georges Seurat. Vincent Van Gogh was widely known for his masterpiece, Starry Night - and Georges Seurat was also widely known for his masterpiece, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Paul Cézanne and Paul Guaguin were known to follow a teensy bit of the impression structure, but they mostly focused on the post impression structure. But Vincent Van Gogh and Georges Seurat completely follow the post impressionism structure as they believed art should just be symbolization, colour, light, structure, abstract form/patterns and emotion. They believed you should show naturalistic depiction of light and colour in your artwork. The art materials, methods and techniques they used were:

Vincent Van Gogh is an artist. That is the first thing you should know.
Vincent Van Gogh was born in the Netherlands on the 30th of March 1853. Vincent Van Gogh was born in an upper-middle-class family and was quite a mature/sensible child. He drew quietly, thoughtfully and seriously as a child. As a young man he worked as an art dealer, often travelling, but became depressed after he was transferred to London to study and bring his art to the stage of 'perfection'. Soon he turned to religion, and spent time as a Protestant missionary in southern Belgium. He drifted in ill health and solitude before taking up painting in 1881, having moved back home with his parents. Then he started his artistic journey of post-impressionism. But before that he learned pointillism. Pointillism is a technique of painting in which small, distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image. Georges Seurat and Paul Signac developed the technique in 1886, branching from impressionism. But Vincent Van Gogh was told to be a very.. 'difficult man'. Van Gogh suffered from psychotic episodes and delusions and though he worried about his mental stability, he often neglected his physical health, did not eat properly and drank heavily (which was common due to the fact that a lot of people in the late 1800's become alcoholics). He only haf a few friends. Paul Gaugin was one of them. But his friendship with Gauguin ended after a confrontation with a razor, when in a rage, he severed part of his own left ear. He spent time in hospitals for the unstable and mental, including a period at Saint-Rémy. After he discharged himself and moved to the Auberge Ravoux in Auvers-sur-Oise near Paris, he came under the care of the homeopathic doctor Paul Gachet. His depression continued and on 27 July 1890, where Vincent Van Gogh shot himself in the chest with a revolver. He died from his injuries two days later. Van Gogh was unsuccessful during his lifetime, and was considered a madman and a failure. He became famous after his suicide, and exists in the public imagination as the quintessential misunderstood genius, the artist "where discourses on madness and creativity converge". His reputation began to grow in the early 20th century as elements of his painting style came to be incorporated by the Fauves and German Expressionists. He attained widespread critical, commercial and popular success over the ensuing decades, and is remembered as an important but tragic painter, whose troubled personality represents the romantic ideal of the tortured artist.

Anyway,
Here are 3 of his most famous masterpieces:
The Bedroom in Arles
A Starry Night
Irises
A perfect example of amazing cotrast, shading, and emotion is A Starry Night. This artwork was created with a purpose: yet the purpose is unknown. The mystery and beauty behind this artwork will create conflict and make us assume. Vincent Van Gogh was known to be a failure but now his emotions would be able to create a drama show itself. If only he would be alive to tell us the meaning. As my favourite quote: "If only if only the woodpecker sighed.. if only if only.. if only if only.." I got this quote from the book holes. It means you could burn the curse within you and become the best you could be. But you can only do this if only you got rid of your faults you can't get rid of.
