Dapitan City's Handuraw Festival Reels Off With Arnis Competition

THE festival of the Handuraw Festival this year started off Monday, December 27, with the Anyo Arnis Competition, which is one of the four occasions of the event in Dapitan City.
Dapitan City, known as the Shrine City of the Philippines, holds the Handuraw Festival yearly to remember the demise of Dr. Jose Rizal, one of the country's public legends, just as to advance its travel industry.
The celebration blends verifiable, social, social and monetary components connected with the existence of Rizal in Dapitan City.
Apple Marie Agolong, Dapitan City the travel industry official, said Wednesday, December 29, that the Anyo Arnis contest held at the city's amphitheater included five classifications and was taken part by a few groups.
The classifications are as per the following: Solo Baston under 12 young men; Doble Baston (Double Sticks) senior young men; Doble Baston (Double Sticks) cadet young men; Solo Baston (Single Stick) Cadets young ladies; and, Espada y Daga (Sword and Dagger) senior young ladies.
"Arnis was one of the games Rizal educated to his understudies during his exile here in Dapitan city," Agolong said.
Rizal carried on with the existence of a political exile in Dapitan City for a time of four years and 13 days from July 17, 1892 to July 31, 1896.
The victors in the Solo Baston under 12 young men are the accompanying: Riel Anthony, champion; Adrian Francis Dalumpines, first second place; Arq Nathan Moleta, second next in line; Angelo Neil Banogon, third next in line; Darryl Steve Cais, Jr., fourth second place; and, Fierce John Jamarolin, fifth second place.
The Doble Baston Senior Boys victors are: Maxwell Carson Saldon, champion; Renero Patayon, first next in line; and, Jayson Pacacain, second next in line.
The victors in the Doble Baston Cadet Boys classification are: Jefrave Lander Eroy, champion; Fritz Kenny Maguinsay, first next in line; and, Edward Datoy, second next in line.
In the Solo Baston Cadet Girls, the victors are the accompanying: Sam Sorronda, champion; Mayumi Macute, first next in line; and, Joelle Cris Aripal, second next in line.
The Espada y Daga Senior Girls classification, the victors are: Allysa Adelle Dalumpines, champion; Jessanae Eroy, first next in line; and, Katherin Calubag, second next in line.
The subsequent day, December 28, of the Handuraw Festival included the "Tagisan ng Talinong Rizal" between school Junior High School Category test contest held at the Rizal Shrine.
"The test bowl challenge is everything about and connected with Rizal's life and works," Agolong said.
The victors in the test bowl challenge were the accompanying: Maria Anaiah Eguia and Josh Hamoy of Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) Team 1, champion; Kent Raphael Gabrielle Viadnes and Sabina Bhel Saldon of JRMSU Team 2, first second place; and, Francine Kaye Acabal and Catherine Minette Cagandahan of Dapitan City National High School, second next in line.
Agolong said that the champs in the two rivalries got monetary rewards and plaques of appreciation.
