1. Flipped Classroom- Students will be given the topic and teach the whole class and the teacher. I will give students a topic and they must as a group research it and present it to the class. As the teacher I will not be teaching the class about the topic they will figure it all out on their own. After the students present their ideas I will teach the topic and they will journal about if they were correct or not. This gives the students leeway and their chance to present the topic their own way. I also believe this to be a good way for others to learn from their peers.
2. Literature Circles- This activity the students will work in small groups to discuss a piece of literature in depth. This activity is fully student directed. This consists of 5 roles, discussion director, word wizard, summarizer, illustrator, and connector. I will have groups of 5 that they must always choose a different role each time. I will give them 5 grade level books to choose from and discuss. When they are done each group must have at least two members present to the whole class what they did. This is good to do during reading time, it helps students see multiple view points and have different discussions.
3. Project Based Learning- Students will work together to research their projects that answers the question or solves the given problem. This is an engaging way to get the students thinking. I will use this method to get the students thinking on their own to solve the problem in their project and be able to share a finished piece with the whole class. Any type of learner can do this activity because it gets everyone involved and thinking. Each student has the right to answer the question their own way.
4. Fun Activity Learning- With each lesson I will do a fun activity that way I can hook the students and show them hands on ways to learn this lesson. Hands on is a good way to really remember the lesson and also how to do it, referring back to the hands on lesson will help with better thought on how to complete the problem. Math would be good subject to use candy as a hands on activity.
5. Website search- I will use educational websites after introducing the lesson that way the students can do some research and activities on their own. This would be a good thing to do in a computer lab so I can manage the search and games, making sure they are on the correct topic. I will also give a list of websites that are good to look at.
6. YouTube Videos- As the teacher, I will introduce the lesson by showing a video based on the lesson that way the video can be a motivational device and get the students excited and thinking as well as this is a very good way to get the students involved and when it’s fun and they are into it they don’t forget what they learned.
7. Group work/ Partner work- I will base the groups off of strengths and weaknesses and pair both types together to help one another. This is a good way to promote learning from other peers but yet they will still receive information from the teacher to get the groups on tasks and moving. This is good to do after introducing a new topic or before taking a test or doing a worksheet.
8. Graphic Organizers- I will use graphic organizers to help any kind of learner or student portray how to organize their own thoughts and discussions. I will give students information and they will decide how to organize their thoughts. This is a good way to show and help good note taking. I used this as a student when I was in high school during my college biology class to improve my notes, the teacher always discussed this method.
9. Think- Pair- Share- This is good to use when a new topic is introduced and before exams. Students will explain their idea on the topic which creates multiple view points for each student to understand a new topic. Students will think on a new topic and then get with a partner and share their ideas. Then they will share what their partner said to the whole class.
10. Saxon Math Method- Will use this when I introduce a concept in math, after teaching the lesson they can use this method to work on problems to see if they understand. This goes over new concepts but constantly reviewing old topics so they don’t forget. This is good step by step instruction for special needs or any student at all. I will have the students work on Saxon for 10 minutes every day after the math lesson.
11. IXL- I will use this very often when I have students who struggle with a certain subject. The students can use this website at home for 20 minutes each night and play educational games or work on problems in the certain area they struggle with. This is a good way to improve bad skills both in and out of the classroom.
12. Prezi- I will use this to have the students create very creative presentations with a partner or group that must include pictures and videos related to the given topic. This will promote group work and each student must convert their thinking in order to get credit. This is a good way to check for individual knowledge and understanding.
13. Tiered Lesson- This is a good one for ELL learners because it shows the differences in student’s ability to understand. I will do this when trying to accomplish student’s goals by using different levels of assignments like hard, medium, and easy.
14. Exit Ticket- As a teacher I will often give students an exit ticket that they must answer the problem on the white board and put the answer on their sticky note and give it to me and if they are correct they can leave the classroom. I feel this is a good way to check for concrete understanding of the topic.
15. Information Web- Students will create a web of ideas to use when doing writing so they can look off the web when they need ideas off the top of their heads and not spend time thinking of a topic or things relating to their topic.
16. Peer Tutoring- When we do group work I will pair the students who struggle with someone that is a strong learner at that subject that way the strong one can guide the weak ones and help them because I feel that students learn best from other students.
17. Guided Reading- During reading time I will take the students who struggle with reading and help them and listen to them one on one for more independent help.
18. Writers Workshop- I will use writers workshop to mentor the students and guide them on the correct writing skills. When the students have come up with a writing topic they will share it with their partner. Also I as the teacher will generate a list of writing topics on the white board given to me by students that they do not spend writing time thinking what to write about. I am guiding the students through the writing process.
19. Emaze- I will have students use Emaze to create a presentation based on the current topic and when they finish they will present it to the whole class. This can benefit for visual and spatial learning.
20. Speech and Language Generator- as a teacher I will use google translate for the students who do not have english as their primary language. The students who need this will have an iPad on their desk with google translate pulled up. https://translate.google.com
