43 monkeys escaped South Carolina

Well, well, well, what do we have here? It's not every day that you hear about 43 monkeys escaping from a research facility, is it? But that's exactly what happened in South Carolina this week, and I have to say, it's one of the most amusing stories I've heard in a while.

Apparently, a caretaker at the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center in Yemassee, South Carolina, accidentally left two doors open, and the monkeys seized their chance for freedom. And let me tell you, they made a run for it like they were in the Olympics.

  • They were swinging through the trees, scampering across the ground, and generally causing all sorts of monkey business.
  • The police were called in, but they were like, "Hey, don't worry, these monkeys are rhesus macaques, and they're not dangerous."
  • Well, I'm not so sure about that. I mean, have you ever seen a rhesus macaque on a rampage? They can be pretty wild.
  • Anyway, the monkeys were on the loose for a few hours, and during that time, they had the whole town on edge.
  • People were locking their windows and doors, and there were even reports of people arming themselves with bananas in case they encountered any of the escapees.

But thankfully, the monkeys were eventually recaptured, and they were all returned to the research facility, safe and sound.

Now, I don't know about you, but I think this whole situation is hilarious. I mean, can you imagine being a police officer and having to go out and catch escaped monkeys? That's not exactly the kind of thing you learn about in the police academy.

And I have to say, I'm impressed by the monkeys. They showed real determination and ingenuity in their escape. They even managed to outsmart the police for a few hours. So, hats off to the monkeys, you guys are the real heroes of this story.

And to the caretaker who accidentally left the doors open, well, let's just say that maybe it's time for a new career. Maybe something that doesn't involve monkeys.
