This girl really hates her birthday.

She feels like it's a massive imposition having to deal with all the presents and cards and people everywhere.

She'd much rather be curled up in a dark room with a good book than dealing with all the fuss. Every year she hates it more and more. This year though is special. Her old friend has done something that has her mind spinning. She can't decide if she's more excited or scared. Whatever it is, it has her panicking and pacing around her room.

She can't wait to open her gift but then again, she's terrified of what it could be. In her hands is a small box, wrapped in black paper and tied with a silver ribbon. She takes a deep breath and opens it. Inside is a silver necklace with a small, silver heart pendant. She smiles and puts it on. She feels like a new person. She can't wait to see what the rest of the day has in store for her.
