A deep dive on Martin Ødegaard's meteoric rise




On January 5th 2015, a 16-year-old Martin Odegaard etched his name into the history books of football. The Norwegian prodigy became Real Madrid's youngest-ever signing after completing a move from Stromsgodset.
Odegaard's talent was undeniable and he quickly became a regular for the Real Madrid Castilla, the club's reserve team. In the 2015/16 season, he helped the team win the Segunda Division B title, scoring 11 goals in 28 appearances.
The following season, Odegaard made his debut for the Real Madrid first team, becoming the club's youngest ever debutant in La Liga. He made 23 appearances for the first team that season, scoring two goals.

In the 2018/19 season, Odegaard was loaned out again, this time to Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch Eredivisie. He made 29 appearances for the Dutch club, scoring nine goals.
Odegaard returned to Real Madrid for the 2019/20 season, but found his opportunities limited. He made just 17 appearances for the first team, scoring two goals.
In January 2021, Odegaard was loaned out to Arsenal in the Premier League. He made 20 appearances for the Gunners, scoring two goals.
Odegaard's performances for Arsenal convinced the club to make his loan move permanent. He signed a four-year contract with the Gunners in the summer of 2021.
Odegaard has quickly become a key player for Arsenal, captaining the team to victory in the 2022 FA Cup final. He has also been instrumental in the Gunners' impressive start to the 2022/23 season, scoring three goals in the Premier League.
At just 24 years old, Odegaard has already achieved a great deal in his career. He has won trophies, played for some of the biggest clubs in the world, and captained his country. There is no doubt that he has a bright future ahead of him.
