A League Women
I remember it quite clearly. I was 10. It was a warm summer day in the backyard with my mom. She asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I was surprised. I never thought about it before. She was a nurse, and I always loved helping her out, bandaging her "patients" (stuffed animals) up and playing doctor. “A nurse, like you!” I exclaimed. She smiled and said, "That's wonderful, honey. But what if you could be anything?" "Anything?" I repeated, my mind racing. "Like an astronaut! Or a teacher!" My thoughts tumbled over each other as I imagined all the possibilities that lay ahead.
Fast forward to today, and I am a data scientist. I love my job. I love using my skills to solve problems and make a difference in the world. But I often wonder what would have happened if I had chosen a different path. There were so many options available to me.
I'm not alone. Millions of girls around the world face the same decision every day. What do they want to be when they grow up? And how do they even begin to answer that question?
The good news is that there are more choices available to girls than ever before. They can be doctors, lawyers, engineers, scientists, astronauts, teachers, or anything else they can dream of. But with so many options, it can be overwhelming.
That's where "A League Women" comes in. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to helping girls explore their career options and reach their full potential. We do this through a variety of programs and initiatives, including:
* Mentoring: We connect girls with successful women in STEM fields who can provide guidance and support.
* Workshops: We offer workshops on topics such as career exploration, resume writing, and interviewing skills.
* Networking events: We host networking events where girls can meet with potential employers and learn about different career paths.
We believe that every girl has the potential to achieve great things. We are here to help them reach their goals and make a difference in the world.
I am so grateful for the opportunities that have been given to me. I am a data scientist because of the support of my family, my teachers, and my mentors. I want to make sure that other girls have the same opportunities that I did.
If you are a girl who is interested in STEM, I encourage you to check out "A League Women." We are here to help you explore your options and reach your full potential.
So what do you want to be when you grow up? The world is your oyster!
