Airplane Crash Halifax Airport
On December 29, 2024, an Air Canada Express flight skidded off the runway at Halifax Stanfield International Airport, catching fire upon impact. There were no fatalities in the incident, but five people sustained minor injuries.
The flight, operated by PAL Airlines, was carrying 73 passengers and five crew members. It had departed from Montreal at 8:25 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Halifax at 9:30 p.m.
According to witnesses, the plane came in for a landing too fast and skidded off the runway. It then slid through some trees and burst into flames.
Emergency crews were quickly on the scene and evacuated the passengers and crew. Five people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the incident.
