Among sportbike motorcycle riders, the CBR1000RR is a legend that stands out both on and off the track. Now for 2014, the CBR1000RR’s performance grows even sharper with the introduction of the CBR1000RR SP – a machine with racetrack tweaks that elevate the supersport motorcycle to a whole new level of performance. The day track enthusiast will typically customize their machines with race-level suspension components and brakes for dedicated track work or competition. And that’s what Honda has designed in the CBR1000RR Special Edition, which offers all the best components, all set to go from the start.
The sportbike motorcycle offers fully adjustable Öhlins front and rear suspension. The new forged and machined top bridge and fully adjustable NIX30 front suspension and TTX36 rear shock deliver excellent suspension performance and adjustability on the track or on the street. Though light, the CBR1000 RR Special Edition’s race-proven Brembo monobloc calipers provide exceptional stiffness and braking performance. Add to that Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC high-performance and premium tires and 12-spoke wheels with a unique pinstripe design.
The single seating design incorporates a special lightweight subframe, instead of the passenger-accommodating configuration. This lowers the center of gravity for the rider and a new-design rear cowl helps lower overall weight. Plus, the street bike motorcycle features hand-selected engine parts for weight and balance, including pistons and connecting rods to improve track performance. The 998cc liquid-cooled engine delivers additional power and torque with a new cylinder head, intake tract and exhaust system. The sportbike motorcycle also looks hands-down cool with special graphics and tri-color paint scheme that gives visual depth and vivid color
