Alavés vs Barcelona: A Match Report

  • Alavés 0-3 Barcelona
  • Goals: Lewandowski (7', 22', 32')
Barcelona continued their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable 3-0 win over bottom-of-the-table Alavés at the Estadio Mendizorroza on Sunday.
Robert Lewandowski scored all three goals for the visitors, taking his tally for the season to 14 in all competitions.
The Polish striker opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a low drive into the bottom corner. He doubled Barcelona's lead just 15 minutes later with a header from a cross by Raphinha.
Lewandowski completed his hat-trick in the 32nd minute with another header, this time from a cross by Jordi Alba.
Barcelona were in complete control of the game from start to finish, with Alavés rarely threatening the visitors' goal.
The win sees Barcelona move three points clear at the top of the table, while Alavés remain bottom and without a win in their last five games.

Alavés almost took the lead in the opening minutes when Borja Sainz hit the post, but after that it was all Barcelona.

Barcelona dominated possession and created a number of chances, with Lewandowski and Ousmane Dembele both going close before the Pole opened the scoring.

Alavés goalkeeper Antonio Sivera made a number of good saves to keep the score down, but he was helpless to prevent Lewandowski from completing his hat-trick.

Barcelona coach Xavi was pleased with his team's performance, saying: "We played very well today. We controlled the game from start to finish and created a lot of chances. We could have scored more goals, but I'm happy with the win."

Alavés coach Luis Garcia Plaza was disappointed with his team's performance, saying: "We didn't play well today. We were too nervous and we made too many mistakes. We need to improve our performance if we want to start winning games."
