I've been told I have a "funny bone." But I think it's more like a "funny skeleton."
I mean, I can't help it. Things just come out of my mouth in the funniest way possible. Even when I'm not trying to be funny, I can't help but make people laugh. It's a gift. Or a curse, depending on how you look at it.
For example, the other day I was at the grocery store, and I saw this woman with a cart full of nothing but candy. I couldn't help but say, "Excuse me, ma'am, but are you planning on eating all that candy yourself? Because if you are, I'm going to need to call the Guinness Book of World Records."
The woman just stared at me for a moment, and then she started laughing. She said, "You're so funny! I've never met anyone like you before."
I shrugged and said, "It's a gift."
And it is. I've been able to make people laugh my entire life. I remember when I was in kindergarten, I would always make my classmates laugh by doing silly things. I would pretend to be a dog, or I would make up funny songs. I was the class clown, and I loved it.
As I got older, I realized that I could use my humor to make people feel better. I could make them forget about their problems for a while, and I could make them smile. I decided that I wanted to be a comedian, and I started performing stand-up comedy when I was 18 years old.
I've been doing stand-up for over 10 years now, and I've performed all over the country. I've even performed on television a few times. I love making people laugh, and I'm grateful that I have the ability to do it.
Of course, there are some downsides to being funny. For example, people sometimes expect me to be funny all the time. They think that I'm always "on," and that I never have a serious thought in my head.
That's not true, of course. I'm a normal person, with normal thoughts and feelings. I just happen to have a funny bone. Or a funny skeleton.
So if you ever meet me, don't be surprised if I make you laugh. It's just my way of showing you that I care.
