Animal Control in San Antonio, Austin, New Braunfels, San Marcos & The Surrounding Areas

They might be cute but don’t let their looks fool you. Wildlife can cause costly damage to any home. Here are few critter removal tips to keep you and your home safe.

Look for them— Part of the problem is finding out how the animals entered your home. Start by inspecting the outside of your home for any holes or cracks. Many animals can squeeze through surprisingly tiny openings, which in time, will make the openings larger. Some common places to look for animal destruction are pipes, cables and vents leading outside. If you find anything out of the ordinary, schedule an inspection with a professional and repair any damage that has been caused.

Cut out their food supply — As the saying goes, “Don’t feed the animals.” Don’t let squirrels, opossum, raccoons or other wildlife feed off of leftover bird seeds or drink water from your bird bath, this will allow for your home to become a nesting ground.

Let them walk out the door — Literally. Open windows, doors and turn on the lights so they can make their exit. Don’t block the exit, only after you have properly removed the animals can you seal your holes or replace rotting wood.

Trap them — Classic wooden snap traps or bait traps can work to catch rats, but they can also be dangerous if not handled properly. Don’t deal with the stress and call a professional right away if you are setting traps and not catching. This might mean that the rats have caught on to your traps and won’t fall for it, leading to an infestation.
