Another Earth Day, Another Hopeless Plea

For the planet's sake, let's just ban holidays.

It's that time of year again. The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and Earth Day is upon us. And as usual, we're being bombarded with messages about how we need to "save the planet" and "reduce our carbon footprint."

This is a perfect time for uss to reflect on how much our society does not care about the planet. We do things like celebrate Earth Day.

  • What is the point in making a big fuss about one day dedicated to the planet while ignoring its well-being the other 51 weeks of the year?
    • It's like if your best friend was slowly bleeding to death and you decided to cheer them up with a birthday party instead of calling the hospital.

We need to wake up and realize that Earth Day is not a solution to our environmental problems. It's just a way for us to feel good about ourselves while we continue to destroy the planet. It's the perfect indulgence for the type of person who knows they should be eating healthy and working out but would instead rather buy a new workout outfit, go for a walk, and get a milkshake.

If you really want to make a difference, stop celebrating Earth Day and start living sustainably every day. Reduce your consumption, recycle, compost, and support businesses that are committed to environmental protection. And most importantly, vote for politicians who prioritize the environment.

I know it's not easy. But it's the only way we're going to save our planet. So please, let's make this the last Earth Day we ever have. Let's just ban holidays altogether and focus on taking care of the only home we have.
