Auston Matthews: The Next Great One
Auston Matthews is a Canadian professional ice hockey player and the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, on September 17, 1997, and grew up in California. Matthews began playing hockey at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks, playing for the U.S. National Team Development Program and the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League before being drafted first overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
Matthews is a highly skilled and dynamic player known for his scoring ability, skating prowess, and hockey IQ. He is a fast and agile skater with excellent puck-handling skills and a quick release. Matthews is also a powerful shooter with a knack for finding the back of the net.
