Ba flight Bermuda bomb threat: the terror of a mid-air ordeal
A Ba flight from London to Bermuda was forced to make an emergency landing after a bomb threat was found on board. The plane, with 180 passengers and crew on board, landed safely at Bermuda International Airport at 9.30am local time.
A passenger on the flight told the BBC that there was a "lot of panic" on board after the threat was discovered. He said: "There was a lot of shouting and people were crying. The cabin crew were very good at calming people down."
The bomb threat was found in a note that was handed to a flight attendant. The note said that there was a bomb on board the plane and that it would explode if the plane did not land immediately.
The pilot of the plane decided to make an emergency landing in Bermuda as a precaution. The plane was met by emergency services at the airport and the passengers were evacuated.
The bomb threat was later found to be a hoax. The police are now investigating the incident.
I was on that flight, and it was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. I'll never forget the moment when we were told that there was a bomb on board. I felt like my heart stopped. I thought I was going to die.
The cabin crew were amazing. They were so calm and professional. They did everything they could to reassure us and keep us safe. I'm so grateful to them.
I'm also grateful to the pilot for making the decision to land the plane. I know it was a difficult decision, but it was the right one. We all got off the plane safely and that's all that matters.
I'm still trying to process what happened. I'm grateful to be alive, but I'm also feeling scared and vulnerable. I'm not sure how I'm going to get over this, but I know I will, eventually.
I want to thank everyone who helped me through this ordeal. I'm so grateful for your support.
