Man Made Climate Change
In today’s science world man made climate change is a big debate. Some people believe that the things humans are doing are causing global warming. Others believe that global warming is just a natural nature process. In this essay I will explain why I believe global warming today, is manmade.
One reason why I believe global warming is caused by humans is that humans are now emitting around 30 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere every year. Why is that such a problem? Carbon dioxide traps heat in our atmosphere, and when there’s too much of it, the earth gradually gets warmer.
My second reason is that carbon dioxide levels have raised from 290 to 379 parts per million unnaturally in the past 150 years. How do humans have an effect on that? Humans have increasingly been using up fossil fuels by burning them, and cutting down trees that absorb carbon dioxide.
My third reason is overpopulation. In the past 100 years population went from 1.6 billion to 6.1 billion. The more people there are means the more demand for things like fuels, wood, and other natural resources. The acts that are done in order to get these resources can be quite harmful. For example, as the demand for wood grows, more trees have to be cut down, meaning less oxygen put into our atmosphere, and more carbon dioxide in it.
