Trekking Around Kampung Sekan

Info about Sekan Valley

Kampung sekan is one of a little valley it’s located on the mountain and many hills. Kampung sekan is one of east part of Wamena Baliem valley. This part included with Hotel Baliem Valley Resort. Kampung sekan is on the top after Hotel Baliem valley Resort. Therefore, i want to explain about Sekan Valley. Although Kampung sekan is more beautiful because nice a view with more hill and mountain.

Kampung sekan also many people said that Sekan is look like a prison. But is not prison; it’s a nice little valley for the visitors enjoy with this valley that not disturb something to you. This valley you are free and safe.

Kampung sekan is very nice and many place you will visit but mostly in cave village. In here long and big cave you can see. But i want to show you only 2 caves enough for you. Many caves are position on the mountain but 2 caves these are is around the village no problem. 2 caves they are Goa Goa Jugurama/Jiluk Alugi. And Goa Hagepma

Goa Jugurama/Jiluk Alugi

This Goa/Cave; this is very big and long one. This is can be enter inside but have to bring flash light or something suitable to see. Many animals inside there are many bats, many swallow and a gush.

Goa Hagepma

This cave is many people never go finished or go until end. Why? Because very long cave and how many meter we don’t know. Inside this cave very scare regarding by natural rock or stone. The particularly in this cave various animals living like as bats, swallows, and shrimp. Inside this cave a big river we call (Kali Yumugi) or Yumugi River. This is river has only shrimps not fish. The colour of shrimp is very white one and blue. Yumugi River came from where we don’t know because this coming just inside the cave, but until Valley of Isaba Himana of Distric Siepkosi flows up on level lands.

So that, if you want to visit this came you can visit when dry season. Why because mostly walk in to the river. If trekking inside in cave has to bring flash light and nice suitable to use and see and also have to wear safeguard with you foot and hands. Trekking inside cave that a full day.

These caves belong to Bapak Markus Haluk. He is an organizer this place and he is also head village according their culture. He is a important man from his family. His family respect to him. Dinner and over night in his house. He has guest house. Before here also many tourist came here make a small festival. At time guide by Bpk Wameak and Bapak Justinus Daby. Finally that nice to trekking in this valley. So that trekking only 4 days and 3 night.

Here are the programs of visit in this valley they are:

Day 01 : Wamena- Mummy Akima-Pabuma-Wekia-Palimolo

From the wamene town can stars around 09.00 AM car drip to Mummy Akima. Mummy Akima you can start to walk until to Wekia Village. Dinner and over night Wekia run by Bapak Saulus Himan. After lunch you can walk around the village see a nice view the green grass an nice to collated of nature stone and with sand. More beautiful in this village. Here you can meet one of man still wearing the traditional dress is Bapak Tuan Meaga. Bapak Tuna Meage a good man. He sometime makes business in Wamena airport. He selling his original handi craft like as ring, bracelet, kotekan many things what dies he has. When you arrive this village some of people visit you so that you can share them with cigarette.

Day 02: Wekia-Palimolo

A good time to breakfast is at 08:00 o’clock. After breakfast can possible to start trekking but walk up a few minute until on the top and from teh top trekking a big rocks slowly you all staffs give to your friends. That mean can give to your guide and porters. After arrive in Palimolo village, that place dinner and over night.

Day 3 still stay in Palimolo Village

Next morning after breakfast to visit in cave in Hagepma full day. And back to sleep in Palimolo.

Day 4 Palimolo-Alobaga-Kekelep-Wamikhak-Ilogopuno- Noagalo by Car Back to wamena.

The finally with visiting walk up to Alobaga and continue to cross Weli River carefully here are my mud. You can cross mountain is Welipuno but slow and carefully this part very deep. If you full down you will not safe but can death. So that porters help you. More lest 1 km. When finish with this part you will fresh and have to take break around 20 minute. On the way many village can see they are Kekalep, Awokuloak, Wurika Ima.

In here on of nice water full in tep-tepma. That nice to spend a time here. This place for take shower only boy not girl. When you spend time hire your porter can make lunch in Sukun Ekama Village. Run BY Bapak Wesugun Wilil. Let go to lunch after lunch walk back little bit to go to Ilogopuno.

Iogopuno is one of place take rest or spend time around 1 hour. This place nice to see a view in Siepkosi valley of Baliem valley.

A good idea contact driver to pick up. Car pick up in Noagalo in Toduma Village. Let go to walk down to Toduma, slowly this part very deep and walk mostly a big rocks. Toduma place is you can get car back towamena by car. Sleep and overnight in wamena hotel.
