Let's face it, Batman Forever is a bit of a mess. But is it so bad that it's good? Or is it just plain bad?
If you're a fan of the Caped Crusader, you'll probably find something to like in Batman Forever. It's got all the usual Batman ingredients: a brooding hero, a colorful cast of villains, and plenty of action. But it also has some pretty big flaws, like a convoluted plot and some truly terrible dialogue.
But here's the thing: I can't help but find Batman Forever kind of charming. It's so over-the-top and ridiculous that it's hard not to have a good time watching it. Plus, it's got Val Kilmer as Batman, and he's always a pleasure to watch.
So, is Batman Forever a good movie? No, not really. But it's a fun movie, and sometimes that's all you need.
The plot of Batman Forever is a bit of a mess. It starts with Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones) escaping from Arkham Asylum and teaming up with the Riddler (Jim Carrey) to take revenge on Batman (Val Kilmer). Meanwhile, Batman is dealing with his own personal demons, including the death of his parents and the loss of his love, Vicki Vale.
It's all a bit much to take in, and the plot doesn't really make much sense. But it's all just an excuse for Batman to fight some bad guys, and that's all that really matters, right?
The characters in Batman Forever are a mixed bag. Val Kilmer is a solid Batman, but he's not as good as Michael Keaton or Christian Bale. Tommy Lee Jones is a great Two-Face, but Jim Carrey's Riddler is just plain annoying.
The supporting cast is also hit-or-miss. Nicole Kidman is great as Chase Meridian, Batman's love interest, but Chris O'Donnell is terrible as Robin. Drew Barrymore is also wasted in her role as Sugar, Two-Face's henchwoman.
The action in Batman Forever is top-notch. There are plenty of exciting fight scenes and chases, and the special effects are impressive. The Batmobile is also pretty cool, although it's a bit too over-the-top for my taste.
Overall, Batman Forever is a flawed but enjoyable film. It's not as good as the best Batman movies, but it's still a fun ride. So if you're in the mood for some mindless entertainment, Batman Forever is worth checking out.
