Beatrisa Mercant Never Thought Her DIY Project Would End in Total Chaos

Beatrisa Mercant was a woman of many talents. She could sew, knit, and crochet. She could paint, draw, and sculpt. She could even play the piano and the guitar. But there was one thing Beatrisa couldn't do: follow instructions.
One day, Beatrisa decided to tackle a DIY project. She found a tutorial online for how to build a birdhouse. The instructions seemed simple enough, so she gathered her supplies and got to work.

Step 1:

Cut two pieces of wood to the same size.

Step 2:

Nail the two pieces of wood together at the sides.

Step 3:

Attach a roof to the top of the birdhouse.

Step 4:

Paint the birdhouse.

Step 5:

Hang the birdhouse in a tree.
Beatrisa followed the instructions carefully, but something went wrong. When she finished, the birdhouse looked more like a lopsided cube than a house for birds.
"Oh well," Beatrisa thought. "It's not perfect, but it's still a birdhouse."
Beatrisa hung the birdhouse in a tree in her backyard. She waited and waited, but no birds came.
"Maybe they don't like the color," Beatrisa thought. So she painted the birdhouse again, this time in a bright yellow.
Still, no birds came.
"Maybe they don't like the shape," Beatrisa thought. So she took the birdhouse down and reshaped it, making it more like a traditional birdhouse.
Finally, a bird came to the birdhouse. Beatrisa was so excited! She watched as the bird hopped around the birdhouse, looking for a place to build a nest.
But then, the bird flew away.
"What did I do wrong?" Beatrisa wondered.
She looked at the birdhouse and realized what the problem was. She had forgotten to put a hole in the front of the birdhouse for the birds to get in!
Beatrisa sighed. She had put so much time and effort into this project, and it was all for nothing.
But then, she had an idea. She took the birdhouse down and cut a hole in the front. Then she hung the birdhouse back up in the tree.
This time, a bird came to the birdhouse and flew right in. Beatrisa was so happy! She had finally finished her DIY project, and she had even learned a valuable lesson: always follow the instructions.
Or at least try to.
