Bobby was a professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 13 seasons. He was a 6'8" forward who was known for his rebounding and defense. Bobby was a three-time NBA All-Star and was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team four times. He was also a member of the gold medal-winning U.S. Olympic basketball team in 1972.
Career
Bobby began his basketball career at Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus, Ohio. He then played college basketball at the University of Cincinnati, where he was a two-time All-American.
Bobby was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks with the seventh overall pick in the 1970 NBA Draft. He spent his first four seasons in Milwaukee, where he helped the Bucks win the NBA championship in 1971.
In 1974, Bobby was traded to the Buffalo Braves. He played for the Braves for five seasons, before being traded to the Washington Bullets in 1979.
Bobby spent the final four seasons of his career with the Bullets. He helped the Bullets win the NBA championship in 1978.
Personal life
Bobby retired from the NBA in 1983. He later worked as a coach and scout for several NBA teams. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002.
