Brittany Mahomes: From the soccer pitch to the Chiefs kingdom

Brittany Mahomes, whose maiden name is Matthews, is a former American soccer player and current co-owner of the Kansas City Current, a National Women's Soccer League team. She is also the wife of Patrick Mahomes, the renowned quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Brittany's soccer journey began at an early age, playing for the Whitehouse High School team in Texas. Her skills on the field earned her a scholarship to the University of Texas at Tyler, where she continued to excel as a forward for the Patriots. During her collegiate career, she earned several accolades, including being named to the All-Lone Star Conference First Team and the NSCAA All-South Central Region Team.
After graduating from college, Brittany embarked on a professional soccer career in Iceland, joining the UMF Afturelding club in 2017. She made her mark on the team, scoring several goals and helping them secure a spot in the Icelandic Women's Cup semifinals. However, her time in Iceland was cut short due to an injury.
Despite the setback, Brittany's passion for soccer remained unwavering. In 2020, she co-founded the Kansas City Current alongside her husband, Patrick. The team made its debut in the NWSL in 2021 and has since gained a loyal following in Kansas City. Brittany serves as the Current's co-owner and is actively involved in the team's operations.
Off the field, Brittany is a dedicated wife and mother. She and Patrick welcomed their first child, daughter Sterling Skye, in 2021. In 2023, they announced that they were expecting their second child, a son named Bronze James. Brittany often shares her family life with her followers on social media, giving fans a glimpse into her world outside of soccer.
Brittany's journey from the soccer pitch to the Chiefs kingdom is a testament to her determination, resilience, and love for the sport. She is a role model for young athletes and an inspiration to those who dream of success in both their personal and professional lives.
