California election results : Winners and Losers
The 2022 California elections were held on November 8, 2022. A lot of propositions were voted on besides many incumbents. Many elections were close so many of them took days to announce the winner. Here are some of the winners and losers of the 2022 California elections:
Winners:
* Incumbent Governor Gavin Newsom (D) was reelected to a second term.
* Incumbent Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis (D) was reelected to a second term.
* Incumbent Attorney General Rob Bonta (D) was reelected to a second term.
* Incumbent Treasurer Fiona Ma (D) was reelected to a second term.
* Incumbent Secretary of State Shirley Weber (D) was reelected to a second term.
* Incumbent Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond (D) was reelected to a second term.
* Incumbent Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara (D) was reelected to a second term.
Losers:
* Republican challenger Brian Dahle lost to incumbent Governor Gavin Newsom (D).
* Republican challenger Lanhee Chen lost to incumbent Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis (D).
* Republican challenger Nathan Hochman lost to incumbent Attorney General Rob Bonta (D).

Propositions:
* Proposition 1: The Water Resilience and Sustainability Act, which would have authorized $8 billion in bonds for water infrastructure projects, was defeated.
