Growing up in a rural area, Canada Post was a lifeline to the outside world. I remember one particular day when I was about 10 years old. I had been waiting anxiously for a package from my grandmother. She lived in a faraway city, and I didn't see her very often. But she always sent me wonderful gifts, and I couldn't wait to see what she had sent me this time.

I ran down to the post office as soon as I got home from school. The postmaster, Mrs. Smith, was behind the counter, sorting through the mail. She smiled when she saw me and said, "I have something for you, dear." She handed me a small, brown package. I thanked her and ran outside to open it.

Inside the package was a beautiful porcelain doll. It was wearing a pink dress and had long, blonde hair. I was so happy! I hugged the doll tightly and ran home to show my mother.
