Carrot recall Canada

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a food recall warning for various brands of organic carrots due to possible E. coli O121 contamination.

The recall affects whole carrots, baby carrots, and carrot juice sold in Canada under the following brands:

  • Compliments
  • President's Choice
  • Bunny-Luv
  • Cal-Organic

The affected products have best-before dates ranging from August 14, 2023, to November 2, 2023.

Consumers are advised not to eat the recalled products and to return them to the store where they were purchased.

E. coli O121 is a type of bacteria that can cause serious illness, including bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramps, fever, and vomiting. In severe cases, E. coli O121 can lead to kidney failure and even death.

The CFIA is investigating the source of the contamination and is working with industry to ensure that all affected products are removed from the marketplace.

Symptoms of E. coli infection usually develop within 3-4 days of exposure and can last for up to 10 days. If you experience any symptoms after eating recalled carrots, seek medical attention immediately.
