Chad Posthumus: The Man, the Myth, the Legend

Chad Posthumus, the beloved Canadian basketball player, was a true force on the court. His towering height and undeniable talent made him a formidable opponent, while his infectious personality brought joy to his teammates and fans alike.

Posthumus' journey to the pros began in his hometown of Winnipeg, where he played for the River East Collegiate. From there, he went on to represent Canada at the FIBA U19 World Championship in 2011, where he averaged 12.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

After a successful college career at UBC, Howard College, and Morehead State, Posthumus signed his first professional contract with the Winnipeg Sea Bears in 2014. He quickly became a fan favorite, known for his relentless defense and thunderous dunks.

Posthumus' international travels took him to Japan, Argentina, and Mexico, where he continued to showcase his skills. In 2019, he joined the Edmonton Stingers, where he helped lead the team to the CEBL Finals.

Beyond his athletic accomplishments, Posthumus was an active member of his community. He volunteered with various organizations, including the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba and the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Tragically, Posthumus passed away in 2024 at the age of 33, after suffering a brain aneurysm. His death sent shockwaves through the basketball world and beyond. He is remembered as a true gentleman both on and off the court, a role model for young athletes, and a devoted father.
