Charlie Dixon: A Legend Hangs Up His Boots

Port Adelaide and Gold Coast Suns legend Charlie Dixon has called time on his decorated 221-game AFL career today.

Dixon, 34, has been a key figure in the AFL for over a decade, renowned for his incredible strength, aerial prowess, and ability to kick goals from anywhere inside 50.

The Queensland native was recruited by Gold Coast as a zone selection in the 2010 AFL Draft and made his debut in 2011. After four seasons and 83 games with the Suns, Dixon requested a trade to Port Adelaide, where he would spend the next eight seasons and become a fan favorite.

Known affectionately as "The Texecutioner," Dixon was a key pillar in Port Adelaide's charge to the 2021 preliminary final. He finished his career with 352 goals, including a memorable tally of 52 in 2018, which earned him All-Australian honors.

Dixon's retirement marks the end of an era for Port Adelaide. But the club and its fans will forever remember the impact he had on and off the field.
