Chinese New Year 2025 philippines

Hello, my fellow citizens of the Philippines! 2025 is the year of the snake in Chinese astrology, and yes, I am very confident in knowing this. How do I know this? Well, I am Chinese Filipino, and I have been celebrating Chinese New Year for as long as I could remember. It is one of the most important holidays for Chinese people all over the world.

The Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is a time to celebrate the beginning of a new year, to pay respect to our ancestors and gods, and to wish for good luck in the coming year.

In the Philippines, Chinese New Year is celebrated with a variety of traditions, including:

  • Family reunions: Relatives from all over come together to celebrate the New Year. It is the time to reunite with your family, and in the Philippines, we already know how much value we give to family.
  • Feasting: In the Philippines, we are known for our delicious dishes, and of course, the new year is celebrated with it. There are many traditional foods that are eaten during Chinese New Year, with round foods like dumplings and spring rolls symbolizing good fortune and prosperity.
  • Firecrackers: Firecrackers have been considered a lucky thing in the Philippines. The Chinese believe that loud noises can scare away evil spirits and bring good luck.
  • Lion and dragon dances: These colorful and lively dances are performed by trained dancers in traditional Chinese costumes. They are believed to bring good luck and prosperity.
  • Gambling: Gambling is a popular way to celebrate Chinese New Year in the Philippines. People often bet on games like mahjong and dice, in the hopes of winning money and good luck.

In 2025, Chinese New Year will begin on January 25th. It will be the Year of the Snake, which is a symbol of wisdom, intelligence, and good luck. I am very excited to celebrate Chinese New Year in the Philippines! It is always a time of great joy and happiness, and I am sure that 2025 will be no different.

I hope you all have a wonderful Chinese New Year! 新年快乐 (Xin Nian Kuai Le)
