Cellular Industry in Indonesia

Asia is the fastest when it comes to telecommunications’ networking and advancement. Since the continent is a home for a growing market of smartphones, social networking and internet users, telecommunications companies are also a big hit in business.

India, Jakarta, Indonesia, Singapore and Seoul, South Korea, are the leaders of telecommunications networking businesses in Asia and have continued to improve with the development of fourth generation (4G) mobile data. While the trend has been developing, the focus has also been shifted from the west consisting of America and Europe. People are already looking for new inventions and revolution of Asia.

The empirical review on the development in Asia’s telecommunication infrastructure has been on quality and quantity. Since the latter has been proven to be a dominating factor in many countries, only South Korea and Singapore have passed on the good quality of connection these telecommunication operators provide. The other leading connections are still falling behind in the midst of the increasing demand. This is mostly the case for developing nations.

The bandwidth cannot mostly carry the number of people who are subscribing resulting to the competition of internet access. Take for example the bandwidth in Indonesia.

The archipelago is dominated by three large operators: Telkomsel, Indosat and XL Axiata. Competition to provide better network access has been more leading these three to create quality services and more promotions for their clients. However, the lack of a more advanced technological assistance hinders the growing development. 4G has been penetrating Jakarta, Sumatra, Bali and other leading cities but the connection to other less developed regions has not been fully established.

The recent acquisition of Axis Capital Group, the fastest growing national GSM provider in the country by XL allowed the company to boost its services but the challenge to continue operating in other islands remains an issue added by the fact that fraudulent providers are also operating in discretion around local towns and provinces.

East Asia consisting of Japan, South Korea and China are considered to lead the continent to great growth. If only the system can also be adapted by other countries in the South East.

Increase in other infrastructure stocks such as in telecommunication and internet connections has also been significant. Internet users, for example, more than tripled since 2000 or from five users per 100 persons in 2000, to 16 users by 2008.

The continent’s telecommunication progress is still being monitored by a lot of investors and competitors in other areas of the globe. There are yet a lot to expect in its growth.
