Coldplay in the Odeon of Herodes Atticus

It is an open secret that Greece has a special place in the hearts of Coldplay.
The band had its first concert here in 2005 at the Ejekt Festival in Mykonos. Since then, they have held several concerts in Greece.
However, their July 2023 concert at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus was extraordinary. It was one of the most memorable live performances I have ever attended.
The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is an ancient theater located on the slopes of the Acropolis in Athens. It was built in 161 AD by Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife Aspasia Annia Regilla. The theater has a capacity of 5,000 people and is known for its excellent acoustics.
The night of the concert, the weather was perfect. It was a clear night with a slight breeze and a full moon. The venue was packed with people of all ages and from all over the world.
The concert started with a short film about the band's history and their love for Greece. The band then took the stage and opened with the song "Yellow." The crowd cheered wildly and sang along to every word.
Coldplay played a set of their greatest hits, including "Viva la Vida," "Clocks," and "Paradise." They also performed a cover of David Bowie's "Heroes."
The band's performance was simply stunning. They sounded amazing and their energy was infectious. The crowd danced and sang along all night.
At one point, frontman Chris Martin told the crowd that he had never felt so connected to an audience before. He said that the energy in the Odeon was unlike anything he had ever experienced.
The concert ended with the song "A Sky Full of Stars." The crowd clapped and cheered for several minutes after the band left the stage.
It was a truly magical night. I will never forget the experience of seeing Coldplay perform in the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
Here are a few of my personal highlights from the concert:
