How to Register to Vote
If you're not already registered, don't panic! You can apply online at checktheregister.ie or in person at your local city or county council office. The deadline is 5pm, February 15th, 2024. Remember, registration is essential to cast your vote!
The Candidates
The Cork Local Elections will see a diverse range of candidates vying for your support. Each candidate will have their own policies and priorities, so it's important to do your research and find out where they stand on the issues that matter to you. Voting Day
On May 23rd, 2024, polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. Be sure to bring your polling card with you, as you may be asked to show it when you vote. You'll be given a ballot paper with the names of the candidates. Simply mark your preferences in the spaces provided, fold the ballot paper, and insert it into the ballot box.
Counting the Votes
After the polls close, the votes will be counted at various counting centers throughout Cork. The results will be announced in the days following the election. The newly elected councilors will then take office and serve for the next five years.
