I vividly remember watching the show as a kid, and being completely captivated by the music and the hosts. Molly Meldrum, in particular, was a larger-than-life character who made the show so much fun to watch.

Over the years, Countdown has featured some of the biggest names in music, both local and international. From AC/DC and Midnight Oil to Madonna and Michael Jackson, they've all graced the stage at one point or another.

The show has also been a launch pad for many young Australian artists, including Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, and Natalie Imbruglia.
