Darlington Michaels




Darlington Michaels was a South African actor best known for his role as Georgie "Papa G" Zamdela in the SABC3 soap opera Isidingo. He was also known for his roles in the films Cry, the Beloved Country (1995) and The Jakes Are Missing (2015).

Michaels was born in Soweto, Johannesburg, on 1 August 1970. He began his acting career in the early 1990s, appearing in small roles in television series such as Generations and Yizo Yizo. He got his big break in 1998 when he was cast as Georgie "Papa G" Zamdela in Isidingo. He played the role for over 20 years, becoming one of the most popular characters on the show.

In addition to his work in television, Michaels also appeared in several films, including Cry, the Beloved Country (1995), The Jakes Are Missing (2015), and Bunny Chow (2006). He also had a successful stage career, appearing in productions such as The Suit and The Island.

Michaels was a talented actor who made a significant contribution to the South African film and television industry. He was a beloved figure who will be greatly missed by his fans and colleagues.

Michaels died on 13 September 2024 at the age of 54. He is survived by his wife, actress Connie Chiume, and their two children.
