Dave Morissette: A Man on a Mission to Feed the Hungry

Growing up in a small town in Maine, I was always surrounded by people who were willing to help those in need. My parents were always volunteering at the local soup kitchen, and my friends and I would often help out by sorting food donations or serving meals. It was through these experiences that I first learned about the importance of giving back to my community.
After graduating from college, I moved to Boston to work as a social worker. In this role, I saw firsthand the challenges that many people face on a daily basis. I worked with families who were struggling to make ends meet, individuals who were dealing with mental illness, and people who were simply down on their luck. It was during this time that I realized that there was a great need for organizations that could provide food assistance to those in need.
In 2010, I founded the nonprofit organization Food for the Hungry. The mission of Food for the Hungry is to provide food assistance to people in need in the Greater Boston area. We do this by partnering with local food pantries and soup kitchens to distribute food to those who need it most.
Over the past 10 years, Food for the Hungry has provided over 1 million meals to people in need. We have also partnered with local schools and community centers to provide nutrition education and cooking classes.
I am proud of the work that Food for the Hungry has done, but I know that there is still much more to be done. Hunger is a serious problem in our country, and it is something that we need to address. I am committed to continuing to work with Food for the Hungry to make a difference in the lives of those who are struggling.
Here are a few things that you can do to help fight hunger:
* Donate to a local food pantry or soup kitchen.
* Volunteer your time at a local food bank or soup kitchen.
* Educate yourself about the issue of hunger in your community.
* Talk to your elected officials about the need for food assistance programs.
Together, we can make a difference in the fight against hunger.
