David Jason




A legend in the world of British TV
David Jason, born David John White, is an English actor, comedian, and author. He is best known for his roles as Del Boy Trotter in the BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses, Detective Jack Frost in the ITV drama series A Touch of Frost, and Granville in the BBC sitcom Open All Hours.
Jason was born in Edmonton, North London, on 2 February 1940. He left school at the age of 14 and worked as a variety of jobs, including a butcher's boy and a milkman, before he began his acting career.
Jason's first major acting role was in the BBC comedy series Do Not Adjust Your Set (1967-1969). He went on to star in a number of other successful TV shows, including Only Fools and Horses (1981-2003), A Touch of Frost (1992-2010), and Open All Hours (1976-1985).
Jason has also appeared in a number of films, including The Great St Trinian's Train Robbery (1966), The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976), and Terry Pratchett's Hogfather (2006).
In addition to his acting work, Jason has also written a number of books, including his autobiography, My Life as Del Boy (1996).
Jason has been married twice, first to Myfanwy Talog in 1968, and then to Gill Hinchcliffe in 2005. He has two daughters, Sophie Mae and Abi.
Jason was awarded an OBE in 1993 and was knighted in 2005 for his services to drama.
Jason is a much-loved figure in British television and his characters have become iconic. He is a true national treasure.
