Day 5 Navratri Goddess




The fifth day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Skandamata, who is considered the mother of Lord Kartikeya. She is a symbol of strength and protection. Her name is derived from the words "Skanda" and "Mata", where Skanda is another name for Lord Kartikeya and Mata means mother. Maa Skandamata is depicted as having four arms. In her upper right hand, she holds a lotus flower, and in her upper left hand, she holds a book. In her lower right hand, she holds a sword, and in her lower left hand, she holds a bell.
Maa Skandamata is worshipped on the fifth day of Navratri with great devotion. The color of the day is white, which represents purity and innocence. Devotees wear white clothes and offer white flowers to the Goddess. They also light diyas (lamps) and incense sticks.
During the puja, devotees recite the following mantra:
"Om Devi Skandamaataye Namah"
