Before you read, this letter is to the generation(2099) that will have to endure the repercussions from the mistakes that we, the past generations, have made.
Dear, whoever may come across this letter,
I'm not sure if anyone will actually find this letter nevertheless take the timeout to read it, but I find it to be my duty to at least leave something behind to help the future generations to come. I hope that 2099 can gain an understanding of our iniquity and realize why the natural world is vital. The world that I've come to know today is continuing to take a turn for the worse despite the efforts from the past generations and people today trying to do something about the problems we are facing. “The greatest threats to mankind, Is Mankind” (Anonymous). This quote has proven to be true many times in the past and still does till my day. Throughout history, we see the senseless fighting between humanity for things like race, religion, and perception. Many have endured a great deal of suffering and lost their lives because of these things. I hope and pray that in the years past me you guys don't continue on this path of destruction. As you can see history repeats itself please educate yourselves on our wrongdoings and stop this cycle. “Mankind can only disappoint mother nature for so long” (Anthony D. Williams). In the process of fighting each other, we are also at war with the earth. The earth has suffered at our hands for centuries on end. As our population grows so does our needs and wants. Instead of learning to live our lives around/with nature we forced our way in by knocking down the beautiful crisp forests that used to cover more than 48 percent of the Earth’s surface. In the process of building up our civilization, we have polluted the earth Atmosphere with poisonous gases. Our once graceful sky darkened, filled with skyscrapers and multistory buildings. When we were young we would go outside to play around, breathe in the fresh air and be one with nature. Watch the sunrise and sunset with our backs pressed against the fresh green grass. Now, most kids sit inside on their mobile devices or watching tv all day. There are so many quality experiences you can gain from going outside and enjoying the environment. I guess I’m just saying this because I don’t want you guys to miss out on what this earth has to offer by just taking a step outside.” You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty” (Mahatma Gandhi). Don’t follow in our footsteps, value the world around you before it’s gone.
