The Glade of Dreams

“This world is but a canvas to our imagination” (Thoreau). When I was young one of the things I that I remember most fondly is the small collection of trees, bushes and a stream next to the house. It was a place that I could go to let my imagination run wild in nature. The Glade is small only a few meters wide, but it is thick with foliage. I made trails through the bushes and shrubs and created bridges over the creek. Being young I would imagine that it was a jungle full of dinosaurs or a lost rainforest full of hidden treasure. It was my green private place I could go to by myself or with friends to jump over the stream or just have fun in nature. No matter what time we live in or how old we are, we should always appreciate nature and find how it can improve our lives.

Let us remind the next generation to value the gifts nature has given to us. Many of my fondest memories have been related to nature, whether it is swimming in the ocean, hiking down paths or camping in the wilderness. It is the memory of that Glade that I treasure the most. It was the spot of some of my greatest inventive adventures and cherished playtime. That green playground has shaped me into the person I am today, with a creative imagination and an appreciation for nature. These experiences have helped me develop a vivid thought process and greatly improved my artistic abilities. I believe everyone should spend time outdoors it will help you grow as a person and improve your overall mood.

The next generation should remember to spend time in nature whenever they have time no matter where you live. Whether you live in a city or out in the country, find a place to get them outdoors, relax and have fun. This will not just improve your imagination, but it can help you relieve stress, anxiety and improve your mood by clearing your head. Years ago, I would go to the Glade when I was feeling sad or need to relax after a crazy day and escape to wonderful new worlds of my imagination. No matter where you live you can find a relaxing spot to spend some time whether it’s a city park, a small garden or an open field. Nature is all around us you must go out and find it.

In the future people need to remember to help protect the planet. It is important to keep the planet healthy so we can continue to enjoy it for generations to come. I would always try to keep my Glade as clean and healthy as I possibly can. Protecting my little forest became a new way for me to have fun and relax in the woods knowing it was healthy. One cannot enjoy the benefits of nature if too much pollution or the damaged environment continues. So, everyone needs to help keep their part of the world clean big or small just a little at a time, clean up when you can. Pollution is unhealthy to the planet and the inhabitants of our world and it can harm your physical and mental health. So, no matter how big or small your accomplishment is: picking up some trash or cleaning an entire beach, do whatever you care able and together we can make a big difference.

In conclusion, we should use the gifts nature has made available to us for self-improvement. The outdoors keeps us healthy, getting vitamin D from the sun, and exercise from investigating the areas we live in. We can learn a lot about ourselves in nature encouraging our imaginations to run wild and cast off the stresses of the day. It is important to protect the wilderness so we can all have a Glade to benefit from for generations to come.
