Deep Into You

Before you, my darling,

To love was to seek deeper and deeper

Into one’s soul,

To hear it beat louder and louder,

Echo of my soul…

And, oh, my darling,

How far I, we, went!

How deep!

Me into you, you into me…

Our souls were constantly hugging and dancing and talking,

And, oh, my darling,

When they laughed!

When our souls laughed together,

Currents and happiness rushed and whirled and sparkled through me,

Until I was lighter than a feather,

Floating along across heavenly woods,

Full of talking trees visited by familiar clouds

And peopled by enchanting fairies and wise old men…

But you know, my darling,

You know it well,

From such depth nobody ever comes back.

When our souls were wrenched away from one another,

Bleeding to death,

When this suffocating lid was positioned over the well of joy,

Then any way back from the depth of our love,

From the depth of you,

Was blocked.

Now now, oh beautiful girl,

To love you is still to go deep into you,

But deep into your body,

With mortiferous physicality,

To drink from your well of bliss

And go through life intoxicated…
