Types of Dental Fillings
In Australia, the dentists use four main kinds of tooth filling material, namely:
Composite, Amalgam, Gold and Porcelain
- Composite: Composite is a filling that exactly replicates the tooth color as it is made up of a material called resin, which makes the filling look natural.
- Amalgam: You might have seen a silver color filling, well that is amalgam, which is a mixture of tin, silver, copper, zinc and mercury.
- Gold: Gold is exactly what you pursued. The costliest metal used to make jewelry is used as a filling past 20 years; although has now lost its charm.
- Porcelain: This material is used as a filling if a major part of the tooth needs to be rebuilt, in case of a missing tooth structure or so.
