Diy eclipse glasses

Are you ready for the solar eclipse?

If not, what are you waiting for? The Great American Eclipse is coming on August 21, and it's going to be a sight to behold. But if you want to watch it safely, you're going to need a pair of eclipse glasses.

Eclipse glasses are special glasses that protect your eyes from the sun's harmful rays. They're made with a special filter that blocks out most of the sun's light, so you can safely watch the eclipse without damaging your eyes.

But eclipse glasses can be expensive, and not everyone can afford them. So what do you do if you want to watch the eclipse but you don't want to spend a lot of money?

Don't worry, there's a way you can make your own eclipse glasses at home. It's easy, it's cheap, and it's safe.

Here's what you'll need:
  • A piece of cardboard
  • A pair of scissors
  • A ruler
  • A pencil
  • A piece of aluminum foil
  • A piece of clear plastic
  • Tape
Instructions:
  1. Cut a piece of cardboard to about 6 inches by 8 inches.
  2. Fold the cardboard in half.
  3. Cut a small hole in the center of the cardboard, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. Cut a piece of aluminum foil to about 2 inches by 3 inches.
  5. Tape the aluminum foil over the hole in the cardboard.
  6. Cut a piece of clear plastic to about 3 inches by 4 inches.
  7. Tape the clear plastic over the aluminum foil.
Your eclipse glasses are now complete! To use them, simply hold them up to your eyes and look at the sun. You should be able to see the eclipse safely.
Tips:
  • Make sure the aluminum foil is completely opaque. If you can see any light through it, it's not safe to use.
  • Make sure the clear plastic is clean and free of scratches. Any scratches will reduce the visibility of the eclipse.
  • Do not look directly at the sun for more than a few minutes at a time. Even with eclipse glasses, it's important to protect your eyes.
Enjoy the eclipse!
