East-West Line breakdown

The East-West Line, one of Singapore's busiest MRT lines, experienced a major breakdown on Thursday (Oct 10), disrupting the morning commute for thousands of commuters. The disruption began at around 7.20am, when a train stalled near Tiong Bahru MRT station due to a power fault, causing delays to train services between Jurong East and Buona Vista stations.

Commuters were advised to add an additional 30 minutes to their travel time, and to use alternative transport options such as buses or taxis. SMRT also deployed additional buses to shuttle passengers between affected stations.

The disruption caused chaos and frustration among commuters, many of whom were late for work or school. Some commuters took to social media to vent their anger and frustration, while others praised SMRT for its quick response in deploying additional buses.

SMRT said that it was working to rectify the fault and resume train services as soon as possible. The company also apologized for the inconvenience caused to commuters.

The East-West Line is one of the oldest MRT lines in Singapore, and it is also one of the busiest. The line runs from Pasir Ris to Joo Koon, and it serves major interchanges such as Tanjong Pagar, City Hall, and Outram Park.

The East-West Line breakdown is a reminder of the importance of having a reliable and efficient public transport system. Commuters rely on MRT trains to get to work, school, and other destinations, and any disruption to train services can cause major inconvenience.
