Eberly Plisko: The Man Who Could Not Stop Talking

Eberly Plisko was a man of many words. He could talk for hours on end, and he never seemed to run out of things to say. His friends and family loved him for his gift of gab, but sometimes they wished he would just be quiet for a minute.

One day, Eberly was at a party when he started talking to a woman he had just met. He told her about his job, his family, his hobbies, and his dreams. The woman was polite, but she was also getting a little bored. Finally, she said, "Excuse me, but I have to go to the bathroom."

Eberly nodded and continued talking. "That's interesting," he said. "I have to go to the bathroom all the time too. It's a real problem. I'm always getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. And then I can't fall back asleep. It's very frustrating."

The woman came back from the bathroom and sat down next to Eberly. "You know what?" she said. "I think you have a problem."

"What do you mean?" Eberly asked.

"I think you talk too much," she said. "You're not giving anyone else a chance to get a word in edgewise."

Eberly was taken aback. "I didn't realize I was talking too much," he said. "I just like to talk. It's how I connect with people."

"Well, you need to find a different way to connect with people," the woman said. "Because the way you're doing it now is not working."

Eberly took the woman's words to heart. He started to make an effort to talk less and listen more. At first, it was difficult. But over time, he found that he was actually enjoying himself more. He was learning more about the people around him, and he was making more meaningful connections.

Eberly Plisko still loved to talk. But he learned to do it in moderation. And that's what made him a better friend, a better family member, and a better person.

So, if you find yourself talking too much, take a cue from Eberly Plisko. Talk less, listen more, and you'll be amazed at how much better your life will be.
