1. What is your name?
Caroline Parsons (I just got married May 30th, and I haven't had a chance to change my name legally from Gerloff to Parsons, so I will write "Caroline Gerloff" on all papers and documents until then....hopefully soon!)

2. Where did you grow up?
Richmond, Virginia

3. What was your favorite subject(s) in school growing up?
My favorite subject in school was always history.  I love to research and read about the past. As an undergrad I majored in History from Virginia Commonwealth University.

4. What is one of your biggest personal accomplishments?
I struggled with my early years in college so I would say my biggest accomplishment yet has been my ability to pull up my GPA in order to graduate from VCU in 2012 and be accepted to Radford graduate school in 2014.

5. If you could only save one non-living item from your house before it was destroyed by some type of disaster, what would it be?
I really value antique furniture so I would choose my great grandmother's Chippendale dresser and vanity.  I would like to pass it on to my children some day. They just don't make furniture like they used to!

6. What record album would you select as the soundtrack to a movie about your life? Why?
I love grateful dead, phish, pop, country, and rap, but I would pick something classical like Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet.  I danced for many many years and it was always my favorite Ballet to perform.  Very dramatic and exciting!

7. Why are you studying education in graduate school?
After graduating from VCU in 2012, I searched up and down for a job with my history degree.  In the meantime, I began substitute teaching to make ends meet.  I fell in love with the elementary classroom and spending each day with students.  While being a licensed teacher and having your own classroom requires far more work and dedication, the kids make it worth it.

8. What grade level and/or subject area do you hope to be teaching in the near future (or already teach)? If you don't plan on becoming a professional educator anytime soon, say so.
I would love to have my own 1st grade classroom but I would gladly accept any position available in an elementary school. I suspect that I will be teaching several different grades throughout my career.

9. What are some important things you hope are part of your life 10 years from now?
My husband and a happy teaching career.  I also hope that my husband and I will have a family with happy and healthy kids.
