Elections NSW

Voting could be the most powerful thing a citizen can do to change the future of the nation.
As an Australian living overseas, I used to think that my vote didn’t matter. After all, I lived in another part of the world and I didn’t know much about each candidate’s policies. However, that all changed when I started reading about the importance of voting.
I learned that voting was a way to make a difference. It was a way to have a say in the future with confidence. It was a privilege that many people around the world didn’t have.
So, I decided to do my part. I registered to vote and I started learning about the candidates. I read their websites, listened to their speeches, and attended rallies. I wanted to make sure that I was making an informed decision.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed learning about the candidates and their policies. I also realized that I didn’t have to agree with everything a candidate said in order to vote for them. I just needed to find a candidate who I thought would do the best job of representing my values.
On Election Day, I went to the polls and cast my vote. I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. I knew that I had done my part to shape the future of our country.
If you are an Australian living overseas, I urge you to register to vote. Your vote matters. It is a way to make a difference. It is a way to have a say in the future with trust and hope. It is a privilege that should not be taken for granted. I am proudly an Australian citizen and I am grateful to have thoughtful candidates to represent all walks of life.
