Antartic Moss is 5,500 years old

1.The land was almost untouched by humans for thousands of years.

2.The animals living there provided a balanced ecosystem and a safe environment for the organisms to support each other.

3.The elephant islands give it a safe place to live.

The benefits the island provides to the moss with a place to live

The gentoo penguin is easily recognized by the wide white stripe extending like a bonnet across the top of its head and its bright orange-red bill. They have pale whitish-pink webbed feet and a fairly long tail - the most prominent tail of all penguins. Chicks have grey backs with white fronts. As the Gentoo penguin eats and survives off of some of the moss.
