England fixtures: Record-breaking, Hollywood and a way to become an Emperor

2023: The year of football
This year is going to be huge for football fans. We’re heading toward the summer and not only club football will be taking centre stage. England will be taking part in a Women's World Cup, a Men's World Cup, a Women's European Championship and a Nations League campaign.
There are going to be plenty of chances for the supporters to see the Three Lions in action, especially after the disappointment at the World Cup last year.
Friendlies in March
First up for the men is a friendly away at Italy on March 23rd. This will give Gareth Southgate the chance to take another look at some fringe players and give minutes to those who are looking to break into the starting eleven.
Four days later, they’re at home to Ukraine in another friendly. This could be a good test for England, as Ukraine are a talented side who have been performing well in recent years. They will be hoping to provide a stern test for Southgate's men.
2024 Euros qualifying begins
The serious stuff begins in March for the women. They will travel to Belgium on the 22nd of March and then welcome Italy to Manchester on the 26th. These are going to be key fixtures in their qualifying campaign for the European Championships in 2024.
There are plenty more fixtures on the horizon as well for the Lionesses. They have upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Australia in April and a couple of friendlies in June. The European Qualifiers begin once again in September against Belarus. Then, after another break, they’ll see out the rest of their campaign in November.
Nations League back in June
England’s men will be back in Nations League action in June. Their first fixture will be at home to Italy on June 16th. Then, four days later, they will travel to Hungary for another Nations League clash.
It’s a really tough group for England to be in. Not only are they in with Italy, but they’re also in there with a resurgent Hungary team. Marco Rossi’s men are performing well in international football and look like they’ll be a real threat in the group.
Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand
The summer is when the top priority for England fans will be playing. The Women's World Cup will be taking place in Australia and New Zealand. Sarina Wiegman’s women will be one of the favourites to lift the trophy.
After they won the Euros last summer, the Lionesses have gone from strength to strength. They’ll be looking to show the world that they’re not just here to make up the numbers, and they can really compete with the big guns in the women’s game.
Men's World Cup in the winter
The big one. The Men's World Cup is coming to Qatar in the winter. England will be looking to go one better than their semi-final appearance in 2018.
They’ll be facing tough competition from some of the world’s best teams, but they’ll be confident after a couple of successful years of international football. Southgate has a lot of talent to choose from, and he’ll be hoping that they can gel in time for the biggest competition in the world.

These are just some of the upcoming England fixtures. It’s going to be a great year for football fans, and we can’t wait to see what these teams can achieve.
