The Ashes are coming thick and fast, so it's refreshing to get back to the 50 overs tournament and the less intense world of the Royal London One Day Cup. England will be hot favourites to win their first game against the West Indies on Tuesday, but the tourists will be determined to make a statement when they return to action after their dismal Test series defeat.
England currently sit top of the one-day rankings while the Windies are languishing down in eighth spot, but all that was forgotten in St Lucia last weekend when the tourists turned in a below-par batting performance to lose the first Test heavily inside three days.
Captain Kraigg Brathwaite called it "a poor effort" and it's one they cannot afford to repeat at Emirates Old Trafford.
After losing Jos Buttler to the IPL, England will be largely unchanged from their side that thumped Pakistan at the Riverside Ground on Friday.
Lancashire opener Keaton Jennings is expected to keep his spot at the top of the order, with Jonny Bairstow pencilled in to bat at number four. Jason Roy will miss the first four matches of the tournament due to his commitments with the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
He is expected to be replaced by Phil Salt, who was picked ahead of James Vince.
Salt has been in irresistible form for Lancashire Lightning in this competition, scoring 386 runs, including a century against Derbyshire Falcons last week.
His consistent starts and muscular hitting could prove to be a key asset in the middle order.
With the ball, England will be hoping for another big performance from Saqib Mahmood after the Lancashire seamer took four wickets against Pakistan.
The Windies will be without Test captain Jason Holder, who opted out of the 50-over tournament, but Brathwaite will remain at the helm and the visitors will be hoping for a better return from their top order with the bat.
Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran are all capable of big innings.
And while Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel have been rested following their Test exploits,
Alzarri Joseph - who has taken almost 100 wickets in one-day internationals - will lead the attack.
Prediction: England are a vastly improved one-day team under captain Eoin Morgan and they should have too much firepower for the Windies, even on home soil.
