Ethelann Faraco was a very strange and solitary child. She didn't like to play with other children, but she would spend hours in the garden, talking to the flowers. She loved to listen to them tell stories about the bees and the butterflies that visited them. When she was ten years old, she moved to a new house with her parents and her two younger brothers. Her parents wanted her to go to school, but she refused. She said that she could learn more from the flowers than she could from any teacher. This made her parents very upset, but they couldn't force her to go to school.
One day, a travelling magician came to Ethelann Faraco's town. The magician invited her to come to his show, and she agreed. That night, during the show, the magician told a story about a princess who could talk to animals. Ethelann Faraco was mesmerized by the story, and when the show was over, she begged the magician to teach her how to talk to animals.
The magician took Ethelann Faraco home with him and taught her how to listen to the secret messages carried on the wind. The next morning, Ethelann Faraco went back to the garden and talked to the flowers. The flowers were so happy to see her, and they told her all about the wonderful things that had happened to them since she had been gone.
Ethelann Faraco lived a long and happy life, talking to flowers and sharing their stories with anyone who would listen. She never went to school, but she was a very wise and intelligent woman. She became a teacher of nature, and she taught people how to listen to the secret messages of the flowers.
