Eu elections
The European parliament elections, the most important elections of the EU, are approaching at full speed. In a few months, citizens across the EU will again vote for their representatives in the European Parliament. For many, these elections are just another burden and not a chance to shape the future of Europe. The national press hardly covers the European elections and in order to read some news about it one has to click through a labyrinth of pages on the EU website. This is a shame and a waste of the opportunities this elections bear.
The EU needs to be made more accessible and these elections are a perfect opportunity for that. Like this, citizens can actively participate in shaping their future and the future of the EU. Thus, it is important that young people vote as well. When we look at the worsening climate crisis, the war in Ukraine and the widening of the gap between the rich and the poor, we see that there is a lot that needs to change. This requires active participation from all citizens.
Of course, there are different views on the EU. Some people believe that the EU is too bureaucratic and undemocratic. Others believe that the EU is necessary to promote peace and cooperation in Europe. Whatever your views on the EU, it is important to remember that the EU is a democratic institution partly elected by its citizens. The European elections give us the opportunity to directly influence its direction. So, let us make use of this opportunity, go vote and shape the future of the EU.
